Grandma’s flavour reloaded – because it’s all about the beans.‘

The pure, unfiltered truth is that Grandma’s filter coffee is back in vogue, not only because it’s quick, easy and cheap to make, but also because it has a more delicate flavour and brings out the distinctive aromas of each bean to the full.

As more and more coffee connoisseurs appreciate delicate single-origin beans, filter coffee machines such as the FK401 from GRAEF’s Young Line, designed specifically for this purpose, are (once again) coming back into fashion. It features the modern design, technology and sophistication for which the family-run company from Arnsberg is well known.

The FK401 model comes with a glass carafe holding 10–15 cups and a keep-warm function. A swivelling funnel holds the filter in place, making it much easier to fill the machine with ground coffee.

The pre-infusion function lightly moistens the ground coffee. This causes it to swell and facilitates the perfect extraction of flavours. The large spout, in turn, ensures that the coffee grounds are evenly wetted inside the filter.

It is also fitted with an automatic switch-off function and an anti-drip function. It automatically stops the water flow as soon as the jug is removed from the machine. All in all, it’s a clean affair.

To sum up: with the GRAEF FK401 filter coffee machine, coffee is ready in a flash and tastes as unmistakably aromatic as Grandma used to make.
